Wonkette has some good advice for Democrats and for once its not about sex. Short version - put a zipper on it (honest it's not about sex).

...liberals finally have an issue where the headline hurts Republicans more than it hurts them... Now, shut up. Shhh. Zip it. ZZZip. No, really, quiet... For once, allow Americans' short attention span work for you. And whatever happens, do not let Michael Moore make a movie about it.
